Broken Britain
For my final image I want to portray a broken Britain and have a few ideas on how to sow this using objects:
.I could use traditional English objects such as royal memorabilia, fish and chips, tea etc
.I like the idea of tea and dinner sets to represent England so could use cups and saucers with traditional English patterns
.Using this idea I could have just one cup and saucer and have a crack/ chip in it to represent the 'broken' element of Britain.
-Developing this idea I could maybe have tea overflowing from the cup to symbolise the swelling in the jail population.
-I could use fake blood instead of tea but I think this may be to obvious and tacky
.I had the idea of maybe having a cake stand as this is common at traditional tea parties and having 3 scones on it with blood red jam inside to represent the three men in Birmingham that were killed during the riots.
-This idea could be developed by having a cup and saucer below the cake stand with the jam seeping out of the scones onto the cup as if the blood is dripping.
. I think that my favourite idea and the one that I shall be using is a sculpture type structure made up of typical English dinner set pieces. I shall to break some of the cups etc and keep some whole and then build them up. I want the objects to appear chaotic as the riots were.
