Final Shoot preparation:
This was my first composition. I had all of the objects touching another object and tried to create a sculpture like effect with my cups, saucers and toast stand. I tried to mix the broken pieces in amongst the full pieces and to have then quite clearly visible. After talking to my tutor I decided the the composition was too structured and balanced. I had to make the composition more chaotic and broken if I wished to really portray the riots correctly.
I then tried to position the objects differently which worked better. The objects were more slanted and unbalanced which was more appropriate. I spread the shards of broken cups this time so the the concept of 'broken' was more obvious.
I lowered the camera so that it was level with my objects. I also had to bring the objects closer to the camera so that they filled more of the image
This is not quite my exact final composition but the only difference is the placement of the broken shards. I have added more objects to build up the composition. I chose to do this so that the objects looked as if they had cascaded down into a broken heap. It was very hard to keep the objects balance as some where literally balancing on the tips. This creates an unsettled feeling when looking at the image though as if it is all going to fall to pieces which was the point that I was trying to get across about England. For my final image I moved the shards along the opposite side so that there was a diagonal flow of objects to show the cascading.
